I’m Alex Palmer, a private investigator and business owner with a lifelong fascination for technology. My work centres on helping people find answers, understand difficult situations and make better-informed decisions.
I founded Private Detectives Corporation in 2003, bringing together an entrepreneurial background with a practical, analytical approach to solving problems. As Managing Director, I guide the business and its development, supporting investigation services for individuals, businesses and the legal profession.
Investigation is ultimately about people. Behind every enquiry is someone who needs clarity, reassurance or a way forward. I believe good work starts with listening carefully, asking the right questions and being honest about what can be achieved. Discretion, sound judgement and a personal approach are central to how I work.
My fascination with computing began with the arrival of the Sinclair ZX80. Its practical capabilities were extremely limited, but I immediately recognised the significance of what it represented: the beginning of a new era in which computers would transform everyday life. That conviction sparked an enduring curiosity about what technology could make possible—a curiosity that has remained with me ever since.
Over the years, that interest has become a driving force in how I think and work. Today, it finds its strongest expression in artificial intelligence. My particular expertise lies in applying AI and technical innovation to support my business: improving research, connecting information and making our processes more effective. I’m continually exploring what these tools can achieve, while keeping experienced human judgement at the centre of the work.
That same curiosity drives the other projects I’m developing. PI for PI brings investigators together to find professional work and arrange local cover. Law Firm Complaints provides a place for information and shared experiences about legal services. My involvement in Cross Stitch Forum began as a project for a personal friend, helping provide an online space where people could share their enthusiasm, exchange knowledge and support one another.
Across these projects, I enjoy turning ideas into something practical—whether that means improving an established business, developing a new service or helping someone build a community. The purpose remains consistent: to use experience, thoughtful innovation and the right technology to achieve meaningful results.
This website is a home for that work, and for the ideas still to come.
